Easter Sunrise Service

Native Harvest Bible Fellowship hosted their annual Easter Sunrise Service 7 AM at a site along the road to Lockett Meadow.  The short service began with the singing of several Navajo Easter hymns.  Dr. Tacheeni Scott presented a devotion to 19 of us who gathered to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Fellowship followed with several of the ladies making fresh tsii ka baah (tortilla made over the fire).  We enjoyed hot coffee with the fresh bread filled with scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, and salsa.

Passover Seder Haggadah

Ten of us gathered together on Good Friday evening to participate in a Passover seder.  On the night before He was crucified, Jesus told his disciples,"I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer" Luke 22:15)  We each were able to see, touch, taste, and smell the elements of the Passover.  The Passover is the story of redemption.  As we dipped the karpas (parsley) in the salt water, we were reminded, just like the ancient Israelites, that life sometimes is immersed in tears.  As we at the maror spread on a piece of matzah, we were reminded of how the lives of the Israelites were made "bitter with hard labor in brick and mortar and all kind of work" (Exodus 1:14).  All the food that everyone shared was free of leaven, which in the Bible is a symbol of sin and how it spreads throughout.  As we looked at the unleavened matzah bread, we saw that it was striped and pierced:  ". . . by His stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5) and "They pierced My hands and My feet" (Psalm 22:16).  The second time we dipped the matzah with the bitter herbs into kharoset (chopped apple, nut, and honey mixture ) to remind ourselves that even the most bitter of circumstances can be sweetened by the hope we have in God (1 Peter 1.1-10).

Family Fun Night

Thank you to all of you (22 of us) who came and were so generous in bringing so much food.  We truly enjoyed a feast of Navajo tacos and hot wings.  The fellowship and games were great too!!  At the end of the evening, one of the kids  said, "Let's do this again!!!"
